Every year, by law, the lobster season is closed off for three months to allow the female lobsters to spawn and multiply. The silver lining to all this in Caye Caulker is when the lobster season is once again declared open ... when the fishermen/women of the island celebrate by throwing a huge bash ... the Lobster Festival ... usually at the end of June. The season opens again on June 15th.
